Myths that still circulate

When people compare live floors and slot shelves, a few stubborn ideas keep showing up. Here is a calm reset.

Myth

“This slot is due a win.”

Past spins do not build a debt the machine must repay. Licensed online slots use random number generators; each spin is independent of the last.

Fact

Independence is the point of an RNG

UKGC-licensed games are tested so outcomes are not steered by recent results. A long dry spell does not raise the chance of the next spin paying.

Myth

“Live dealers follow patterns you can map.”

Watching red/black streaks on a live roulette wheel feels informative. It is still a physical (or studio-controlled) random process with a house edge built into the bets.

Fact

Live casino depth ≠ predictable edges

A richer live lobby — more seats, more game shows, more limits — improves choice and atmosphere. It does not create a system that beats the published odds. When we praise Grosvenor or William Hill for live variety, we mean catalogue quality, not a winning method.

Practical questions

Do higher RTP slots guarantee profit?

Return to Player is a long-run statistical measure across huge volumes of play. Over a short session you can finish ahead or behind on any RTP figure. Treat it as one comparison data point, not a personal forecast.

Can a betting system cancel the house edge?

Martingale-style progressions change how losses are sequenced; they do not remove the edge. Table limits and bankroll size usually stop the progression before mathematics does you any favours.

If an operator has more studios, is it “fairer”?

More studios usually means more themes, volatilities and live formats — the reason we weight variety on this site. Fairness still rests on licensing, testing and the rules of each game, not on how many logos sit in the lobby footer.
